European Business wants Europe to reinforce cooperation between the private sector and development

In a position paper on development policy presented by BUSINESSEUROPE President Seillière to EU Commissioner for Development Louis Michel, EU companies propose to improve the effectiveness and coordination of EU development policy through introduction of a business perspective. Other BUSINESSEUROPE activities regarding development policy include a presentation by Senior Adviser Eoin O’Malley on European investment in the Common Market of East and South Africa at a conference organised by the COMESA Secretariat on 18-19 November 2008, in which he advocated for reinforcing African regional markets and continuing to realise a better environment for business. BUSINESSEUROPE, MEDEF, EBCAM and CIAN organised an event on the role of the private sector in Africa at the Development Days in Strasbourg on 17 November 2008.
