Supporting Azerbaijan entrepreneurs in their reform efforts

According to the International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group), Azerbaijan led the world as the top reformer in 2007/2008, in particular with the operating of a one-stop shop in January 2008 to start a business...

The National Confederation of Entrepreneurs / Employers’ Organisations of Azerbaijan (ASK) has been very active in promoting a more conducive environment for business and has successfully engaged in policy reform that has enabled the setting up of the one-stop shop for enterprise creation and should lead, in the beginning of 2009, to the same blueprint simplification for export and import

With a view to strengthening the voice and functioning of ASK, ACTEMP Turin, jointly with ACT/EMP Geneva and the Senior Employers Specialist in Moscow, organised a three-day workshop on “The Effective Employers’ Organisation” for the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs / Employers’ Organisations of Azerbaijan (ASK) in Baku from 17 to 19 December 2008.

Sharing experience and best practice of the ILO and leading employers’ organisations in the region like TISK (Turkey) enabled the participants, headed by President Mamadov, to draw up action plans to improve governance, lobbying and services to members.
The good mix between representatives from central and regional ASK offices made the workshop a brainstorming exercise that should benefit the whole business community.
